Jewelry designer Yuliya Kutovaya presents her exquisite summer collections — Lagan, Shibirma, and Suzani Bodom — inspired by the beauty of Central Asia, inviting you to embark on a fascinating “jewelry journey” through Uzbekistan.
“I have a deep love for the architecture and art of Central Asia and a strong interest in the history of Turkic peoples. One of my favorite places in Uzbekistan is the National Museum of Applied Arts, where I can endlessly admire the vibrant embroideries, ceramics, and paintings,” – Yuliya says.
The central theme of the collections is the vivid color palette of traditional Eastern ornaments, the beauty of architecture, and the richness of cultural traditions. The jewelry is elegantly stylized and crafted using a variety of artistic techniques, including engraving, intricate cloisonné enamel and more.
Lagan
The Lagan collection draws its inspiration from traditional Uzbek tableware — the lagan, a round, hand-painted dish used to serve special treats to honored guests. This iconic shape became the foundation for graceful jewelry pieces that evoke feelings of warmth and the famed hospitality of Eastern women. The pieces are adorned with delicate Islimi vegetal patterns and crafted from gold, decorated with turquoise, coral and diamonds.
Shibirma
These designs reflect the refined lines of Bukhara’s exquisite architecture — one of the main centers of jewelry art in Uzbekistan — and the traditional Bukhara earrings called Shibirma, shaped like filigree petals. The earrings are decorated with a pattern inspired by the carved wooden columns of the famous Bolo-Hauz Mosque in Bukhara. The collection includes earrings, a pendant, and a ring, crafted from 18k gold with diamonds, pear-shaped and round garnets, and white pearls.
Suzani Bodom
The Suzani Bodom collection is rich in symbolism. It is based on traditional Suzani patterns symbolizing eternal life, and the bodom (almond) form, representing abundance, fertility, and protection. The interwoven lines of the ornaments reflect family unity, while the teardrop shapes convey femininity and gentle strength. The collection features earrings, a ring, a pendant with a chain, a bracelet, and a necklace, all crafted in yellow gold.
