Louis Vuitton has created a new line of natural diamond designs, sure to satisfy all jewelry lovers and connoisseurs looking to expand their collection. The new Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Collection pays homage to the Maison’s iconic Damier pattern—the iconic checkerboard motif seen on iconic handbags like the Neverfull and Speedy designs.
The Damier design was invented in 1888 by Georges Vuitton and reintroduced as the Damier Ebène in 1998. It has always been used as a handbag design and now for the first time it is being introduced in natural diamond form, “expressed in a collection of modern and tactile jewels,” according to the Maison in a press release.
“Inspired by its birth year and notably the three number eights, the Damier pattern expressed notions of infinity and limitless eternity,” the press release continues. “Adorning trunks and luggage, Damier became a strong symbol of originality and authenticity, key codes that have anchored its longstanding evolution.”
“Available in either yellow or white gold, the design features gold squares and diamonds that reinterpret Damier’s unmistakable form,” explains the press release. Designed to be worn every day, “like a second skin,” the collection is crafted to look never-ending, fluid and continuous. Features 12 stunning pieces in both yellow and white gold, they are meant to be worn by both men and women.
“It is a diamond collection that is not just about the stones but the pattern that they create,” says Francesca Amfitheatrof, Artistic Director for Watches and Jewelry.
Wearable bangles feature the instantly recognizable checkered motif along with rings of varying widths to suit any style. Chunky huggies are both on-trend and timeless, with the natural diamond design adding considerable sparkle to the piece. Also included in the collection is a sizable pendant with the Damier design hanging from a delicate chain. All pieces feature a sleek “geometric centric line that lends a striking sharpness and sophistication,” reads the press release.
