Turnbull & Asser wants to help you dress like the world’s most famous—and debonair—spy.
The British shirtmaker has just unveiled a new James Bond–inspired eveningwear collection, released in honor of the 20th anniversary of Casino Royale. The 10-piece wardrobe pays homage to Turnbull & Asser’s longstanding relationship with 007: the brand has outfitted the MI6 agent on many of his film adventures over the last 60 years.
Brought to life by creative director Roberto Menichetti, the lineup oozes elegant British craftsmanship, bringing Bond’s classic evening look into the modern day. Instead of simply recrafting Daniel Craig’s black-tie look from his first Bond film, Menichetti delved even further into the 007 archives, referencing original film photographs, clothing, and more documents to decide on the proper fabrics and proportions for the new collection.
The collection is swathed in midnight-blue velvet.

The result speaks for itself. Kicking things off is Midnight Blue, a single-breasted velvet dinner jacket, complete with silk-satin shawl lapels, pocket trims, and covered buttons. The matching trousers, made from fine wool, have a silk-satin side stripe, along with a bow tie and a cummerbund in the same material. Silk also makes its way into all three pocket squares; they are adorned with a straight flush, a nod to Bond’s victory over Le Chiffre in the movie. The white cotton dress shirt, meanwhile, is made in England—a Turnbull & Asser hallmark—with a uniquely pleated front bib.
“It must be unmistakably Bond and unmistakably Turnbull & Asser, but at the same time it must feel entirely natural to wear today,” Menichetti said in a press statement. “This is the balance that really interests me: modernizing whilst respecting the archive without becoming nostalgic about it.”

As we mentioned, Turnbull & Asser is no stranger to the world of 007. It has been dressing the fictitious agent since Dr. No in 1962, when director Terence Young tapped the brand to make bespoke shirts for Sean Connery. The team went on to outfit another Bond man, Pierce Brosnan, in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).
The new Casino Royale collection is now available in stores worldwide and online on its website. And its debut couldn’t come at a more perfect time: Any day now, Amazon MGM Studios will announce the next James Bond for its Denis Villeneuve–directed flick.
