Princess Anne proved she has no ill feelings towards horses after one left her hospitalised last year, as she attended the National Equine Forum in London this week, donning a spring-ready ensemble for the occasion.
In a move that many UK residents will recognise, the second the sun peeps out, we’re ransacking our spring wardrobes, and it seems Princess Anne did the exact same, pushing aside the boots and coats that have characterised her winter ensembles in favour of a lighter outfit.
The Princess Royal donned a pair of low heels for the horsey occasion, adding sheer tights and a lightweight check skirt. On top, there was no coat to be seen, with the King’s sister opting for a smart navy wraparound blazer with fashion-forward open cuffs. See her outfit in the video below…
She wore her hair in her trademark updo, adding a slick of red lipstick to her classy look.
The royal looked delighted to be attending the National Equine Forum, a conference looking at equine welfare, handing out an award in honour of dedication to improving equine welfare internationally.
Princess Anne’s horse-heavy week
Famous for her love of horses, having competed on horseback in the Olympics in 1976, Princess Anne likely had a lovely week, as not only did she attend the conference, she also was honoured by the Cheltenham Festival, which named one of the cups after her.
Previously known as the “Amateur’s Gold Cup”, the newly named “Princess Royal Challenge Cup Open Hunters’ Steeple Chase” will now take place on Gold Cup day, it was announced this week.
Guy Lavender, CEO of Cheltenham Racecourse, said: “The Hunters’ Chase at The Festival is a contest which recognises and celebrates the very origins of our great sport. We therefore feel it is very appropriate to stage it under the name of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal – an outstanding all-round equestrian who has excelled in a wide range of disciplines.”
As well as her passion for horses, Princess Anne is able to indulge in her love of rugby this weekend, as she is expected to attend the Six Nations match on Saturday, watching the match between Italy and England.
