To say we’ve had a love/hate relationship with Samira Nasr’s Harper’s Bazaar would be an understatement—an understatement of somewhat epic proportions. Nevertheless, whenever Nasr (who became editor-in-chief in 2020) drops models on the cover of the Hearst-owned fashion title, we find ourselves somewhat… conflicted. After all, here at theFashionSpot, we’ve raved over covers starring the likes of Anok Yai, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Lauren Hutton, and Liu Wen. The latest model to become a Harper’s Bazaar cover girl is Mona Tougaard, who graces the October 2025 edition of the magazine. Photographed by Luis Alberto Rodriguez and styled by Carlos Nazario, the Danish beauty works a jacket, shirt, and trousers from the debut Celine collection of Michael Rider.
Mona Tougaard for Harper’s Bazaar October 2025
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“A model for a big US cover! Where do I sign,” shreiked BalkaniStaCouture the moment the cover struck.
“I am obsessed with this new Harper’s Bazaar cover. Mona looks absolutely incredible! I love her hair, makeup, outfit, and all the colors – from the masthead down to her pants. I will be getting a newsstand copy for sure,” heralded MModa.
Forum member likeahurricane commented: “I like the spirit behind this, even if the execution is poor!”
“I’m just ALL for seeing models on the covers of mainstream fashion titles, so I’m very much here for this. Mona looks great and is serving… something. I love the long, luscious hair, the styling from Carlos Nazario, and just how classic everything feels. It’s not breaking new ground, but also doesn’t promise to. I’m a fan!” voiced vogue28.
Yet not absolutely everyone was so forthcoming. “Thankfully, Mona is the only thing that can salvage this mess of a shoot. What exactly was the concept here? The hair/makeup is lovely though,” reasoned RMDV.
