As part of Fashion Revolution Week, non-profit organization Fashion Revolution is inviting people to participate in Mend in Public Day on April 26th. This day dedicated to repairing garments unites people from around the world and challenges the notion that garments with visible holes or undone seams have reached the end of their usable life and are destined for a landfill.
Fortunately for those who never learned how to be creative with a needle, or have simply forgotten, tips, instructions and tricks are shared in abundance, as are online workshops.
Fast fashion popularized cheap, disposable clothing and eroded the tradition of repair, but a growing number of people are embracing mending as a quiet act of rebellion—restoring value, individuality, and sustainability to what they wear.
