Men used to be a little shy about white jeans. Some felt they were too feminine, others found them too continental, and still more were understandably wary about spilled glasses of pinot noir.
But in recent years the American male seems to have fully embraced white (and off-white) denim recognizing its versatility as a slightly smarter alternative to the blue jean, and a more casual substitute for chinos. Thanks to its lighter and more uniform color it’s a five-pocket pant that can play the range with everything from gauzy linen camp shirts to unstructured sport coats and beyond.
