From July 27–29, 2026, Playtime Paris once again opened its doors at the beautiful Parc Floral, bringing together the international children’s fashion community for three inspiring days of discovery, creativity, and connection.
This season’s theme could not have felt more perfect for the moment: a summer music festival. And really, what could be a more fitting source of inspiration? Music has always played a powerful role in fashion, influencing designers, artists, and creative minds across generations. At Playtime Paris, that energy was transformed into an immersive experience that celebrated not only fashion, but also joy, community, and self-expression.

Representing Junior Style, our French Ambassador Michele Solecki attended the event over two days, capturing the atmosphere and meeting with brands from around the world.
“The days were set to a carefully curated playlist (as we say in France, aux petits oignons — meaning prepared with great care and attention to detail), with a strong and very diverse attendance: buyers, influencers, mini models, photographers, and international press.
Everyone moved from booth to booth and activity to activity, having fun, smiling, and even singing and dancing along, with endless joy and enthusiasm.
The activities on offer were playful and enjoyable for all ages — creating a real moment of fun, sharing, and togetherness throughout the show.”

Her observations perfectly captured what made this edition so special. Beyond being a business event, Playtime once again demonstrated the importance of gathering in person. In an increasingly digital world, there is something irreplaceable about meeting face-to-face, sharing ideas, exchanging feedback, and celebrating creativity together.
For us, this is one of the most encouraging developments in the industry today. The return of physical events is happening with renewed energy and purpose. Trade shows are no longer simply places to buy and sell collections; they have become vibrant community hubs where relationships are built, inspiration is discovered, and the future of children’s fashion is shaped.
Walking through the aisles of Playtime felt almost like attending a summer camp for creatives—or perhaps an independent music festival where every stand revealed a new story waiting to be told.
And storytelling was undoubtedly one of the strongest themes emerging throughout the show.
While storytelling has become one of the industry’s favorite buzzwords, this season we saw brands truly embracing it. Collections were no longer presented simply as products; they were presented as worlds, characters, adventures, and emotional experiences. Designers are increasingly building deeper connections with consumers by creating narratives that invite families to become part of the story.

From a trend perspective, several key directions stood out.
As predicted in the Junior Style SS27 Vision Board presented at the show, red emerged as one of the defining colors of the season. From bright statement shades to deeper, sophisticated tones, red appeared across numerous collections, bringing confidence, optimism, and energy.
Stripes were another dominant trend. They appeared everywhere—in every color combination imaginable, running horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. Whether classic nautical references or more playful graphic interpretations, stripes felt fresh, modern, and highly versatile.
The maritime influence itself was impossible to ignore. Sailor collars, navy blues, nautical details, and maritime-inspired accessories were visible throughout the exhibition. This naturally connected to another recurring narrative: travel. Summer vacations, seaside adventures, and the romance of discovery provided inspiration for many collections.
One particularly memorable example came from Tinycottons, which showcased a wonderfully chic bellboy character. The look embodied the growing whimsical trend that could be felt throughout the fair—a charming blend of imagination, storytelling, and carefully crafted details that felt almost as though it had stepped out of a film by Wes Anderson.
Accessories also played an increasingly important role. Designers embraced layered styling, unexpected details, and character-driven elements that elevated outfits beyond simple dressing and transformed them into complete visual narratives.
Sport-inspired fashion continued its evolution as well. Rather than focusing solely on functionality, brands presented contemporary activewear influences through a more refined and creative lens. The result was sporty fashion that felt elevated, fashion-forward, and far from ordinary.
Another standout trend was denim. While certainly not a new fabric in children’s fashion, its presence felt stronger and more diverse than in recent seasons. Designers embraced denim in countless interpretations, from relaxed everyday separates and workwear-inspired pieces to fashion-forward silhouettes and coordinated sets. The versatility of denim allowed brands to adapt it to a wide range of aesthetics—from sporty and contemporary to nostalgic and playful—making it one of the season’s most visible and commercially relevant fabric directions.

Looking across the collections as a whole, one aesthetic observation became increasingly clear: SS27 is shaping up to be a highly visual season. The lifestyle imagery presented by many brands felt remarkably aligned with the aspirational, curated world that dominates today’s visual culture. There was a distinctly “Pinterest-worthy” quality to many of the collections—beautifully styled, emotionally driven, and designed to inspire.
As we left Parc Floral, one feeling remained above all others: optimism.
Playtime Paris continues to prove that children’s fashion is at its best when creativity, business, and community come together. This season celebrated not only what children wear, but also the stories they tell, the adventures they imagine, and the joy that fashion can bring.
And much like the perfect summer festival, we left inspired, energized, and already looking forward to the next edition.
